Ebonyi shuts down illegal gas stations, outlets.

Ebonyi state Governor, Chief David Nweze Umahi has directed that all illegal gas stations and outlets in the State be shut down.

The directive was contained in a press statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Mr Francis Nweze and made available to newsmen.

The statement further directed all gas stations and outlets to operate with the approval of the state capital Territory Development Board.

It warmed that defaulters to the order would be penalized inline with the laws of the land coupled with paying the approved penalties.

It also called on all concerned to ensure strict compliance to the directive.

"It is to forestall possible outbreak of fire in this dry season and ensure that Health Safety and Environment regulation of Ebonyi State conform with National and International best oil and gas field practice.

The Government of Ebonyi State under the leadership of His Excellency, Chief David Umahi has directed the immediate shut down of all gas stations and outlets in Ebonyi state.

"To this end, all gas stations and outlets must operate with the approval of the Ebonyi State Capital Territory Development Board (ACTDB) and Department of Petroleum Resources, (DPR).

"Defaulters of this directive will be penalized in accordance with the laws of the land and shall pay approved penalties.

"Please, all concerned should ensure strict compliance to this directive", it concluded.
