The Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife has said that some individuals from its host communities are encroaching into the university land.

The Public Relations Officer of the university, Abiodun Olanrewaju explained that about 162 hectares of land that belongs to the university was in contention.

He said that the institution would not cede its land to those attempting to claim it.

The PRO said the institution would ensure that the land earmarked for the master plan of the institution is not tampered.

The members of the host communities were said to have invaded the university and poisoned its dam. Olanrewaju expressed shock over the action of the aggrieved persons.

He said those individuals are dubious, insisting that the late Ooni of Ife, Oba Adesoji Aderemi gave the land to the university.

The indigenes of the affected communities could not be reached at the time of filling these reports.
