Dame Okowa Pays Hospital, Accommodation Bills For Quintuplets

Following the death of Mrs Pascaline Onyejekwu, the mother of the children who died at delivery, wife of the Delta state governor, Dame Edith Okowa, has brought succor to their father, Mr. Kingsley Onyejekwu.

Discharging the children from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Asaba, Friday, Dame Okowa, said God was in charge, lamenting that though their mother died.

While commending the management of the tertiary health institution, she said, "I like the management of this hospital. They took the woman without a dine paid. God will bless FMC. Today, we are doing God’s will. The children are leaving to where we built for them until their father is ready to pick them.”

She pleaded with the hospital management to send, on a daily basis, a nurse, to take care of the children at the home furnished for them by the 05 Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), and pet programme of Dame Okowa, with which she has touched lives and changed the fortune soe governor’s wife was on ground to give a better and preferable care, "And that will be ten times better than that of motherless babies homes",adding that the governor’s wife paid over N600, 000 before the children were discharged from the hospital.

Chief medical director of the hospital, Victor Osiatuma, said while in hospital for the 54 days, the governor’s wife provided all they needed, their feeding, their wears and others for the children’s welfare.

He said the children’s mother died because she did go for care on time but some outsiders were of the opinion that she died due to thoughts of what to take care of the children.

It was gathered that the deceased was an indigene of Enugu state while the husband is an indigene of Imo state but both were resident in Nnewi , one of the commercial centres of Anambra state.

The woman, Pascaline Onyejekwu, was a clothes seller at Onitsha market while the husband an electrician.

The names of the five babies who are all girls according to seniority are Chibuzor, Chioma, Chidinma, Chineye and Chinelo. At birth, they weighed 1.15, 0.9, 1.25, 1.1 and 1.2 respectively and at date of discharge they weighed 2.2, 2.05, 2.5, 2.15 and 2.1 respectively.
