Sultan of Sokoto pays private visit to Justice Babalakin

The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III has paid a private visit to the retired judge of the Supreme Court, Justice Sheu Tijani Bolarinwa Oyegoke Babalakin at his residence in Gbongan, Osun State.

Justice Babalakin described the visit by the Sultan as a rear privilege and commended Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar for his leadership roles among the Muslims in the country and on the national unity.

He said "I want to specifically thank you for the great efforts you have made in uniting the Muslim Community in the whole of Nigeria. Your leadership in this area has been remarkable and must be appreciated."

"I am particularly happy that you managed to resolve an issue that had divided the Ummah for a long time which was, irregular celebration of Eid-il-Kabir. From time in memorial, we have been celebrating this festival on different dates."

"Since you came to the throne, we have been celebrating this event on the same day. This has enhanced the unity amongst the Muslim Community."

In his remarks, the Sultan lauded Babalakin for the contributions to humanity and prayed for good health for him.

The Deputy Secretary General of Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Dr. Sakariyau Babalola; the Executive Secretary, Muslim Community of South-Western Nigeria, (MUSWEN) Professor Dawud Noibi and the Registrar Joint Admission Matriculation Board, Professor Ishaq Oloyede werr among those that receive the Sultan.
