AS SSS QUIZZES MIMIKO'S LAWYER

By NBF News

Security operatives at the weekend drilled one of the lawyers contracted by Governor Olusegun Mimiko to represent him before the election petition tribunal. The lawyer, Remi Olatubora was interrogated for several hours over the genuineness of the security reports submitted during the proceedings at the tribunal.

Olatubora who is currently the Chairman of Ondo State Sports Council, confirmed the invitation by the Director of the State Security Service (SSS) to his office at the Alagbaka quarters, on Friday and Saturday, where he was asked to explain the source of the security reports presented at the tribunal.

'Immediately I arrived at the SSS office, I was stripped of my phones and made to confront a team of interrogators from Abuja, headquarters of the security agency,' he said.

There had been repeated agitations from the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state for a review of the judgment of the Election Petition Tribunal delivered in the case between Governor Mimiko of the Labour Party and ex-Gov Olusegun Agagu. The PDP had insisted that the security reports tendered by Mimiko's counsel during the course of the litigation were either forged or fake.

Some officers of the SSS who allegedly sneaked out the security reports to Mimiko's legal team had been transferred from the Command and are allegedly facing trial in their new postings. Olatubora, who was quizzed by the SSS team, led by one Mohammed Garba, asked him where the party got the security reports that were tendered at the Election Petition Tribunal.

'But I told them that I was not in the position to know where the litigant got his SSS reports from, but I admitted that it was parts of the exhibits tendered at the tribunal' He added. 'I told my interrogators that I was not the lead counsel for Mimiko's legal team and could not have known the source of the exhibit. However, I insisted that the security reports were genuine.'
