The Nigerian Voice EXCLUSIVE: Delta SDP Chairman Tasks Buhari To Compensate Falae
Delta State chairman, Social Democratic Party (SDP), Ambassador Oke Idawene, has as a matter of urgency called on President Buhari to compensate the national leader of the party and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Chief Olu Falae, whose farm was set ablaze by alleged Fulani Herdsmen along Ilado near Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in Asaba, recently, Idawene said though the attack of Fulani Herdsmen was no longer new to Nigeria but noted that, “the burning of Chief Falae’s farm tells you the evil nature of this APC-led government under Buhari”.
He revealed that the cry for restructuring of Nigeria is being championed by the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, hence, the serial attacks and kidnaps he has experienced.
According to him, “instead of facing the reality, they are even attacking those who are saying the truth”.
He condemned in strong terms the burning of the oil palm farm of the National Chairman of the party, calling on the Buhari-led federal government to apologize “and make payment for what was destroyed and let it not happened again”, he warned.
On the letter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo to Buhari, the SDP Chairman said, “Buhari should obey the advice in the letter of Obasanjo, for the progress of Nigeria. Enough is enough, Nigeria belongs to all of us”, he added.
On the defection of the member representing Uvwie Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA), Efe Ofobruku, an elected legislature under the platform of the SDP to the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) last week on the ground of crises in SDP, he said it was untrue, unfounded and should be discarded.
He noted that it was politics that played out in his defection, “as it is, we are pained that he left us but he has left on self-interest. SDP will bounce back, we will win more seats come 2019 by the grace of God”, he assured.
He frowned at the situation where politicians dumps the party that gave them mandate but quickly added that “it is the nature of the African politics. In as much as there is personal interest before general interest in African politics, people must continue to move from place to place and party to party, depends on your interest. But the truth is that it is not good for our politics. Let us learn how to grow where we are and develop it”.
