Adeboye speaks out on killings by Fulani herdsmen

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God Pastor Enoch A. Adeboye has commenced a series of prayers against the sponsors of the dastardly killings by the Fulani herdsmen, urging God to expose and disgrace them.

Adeboye, who was addressing attendees to the Febuary Holy Ghost Service at the New Auditorium, Shimawa, Ogun State, last Friday night,  said the church would hold a national prayer against the security challenges facing the country on February 13, .

According to the revered man of  God, he had refrained from speaking on the matter because the positions of Christians have been properly articulated by the Christian Association of Nigerian and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, both of which he belongs to.

He said that he had inundated with called by those who would want to hear his voice of the festering national crisis, but emphasised that as a man under authority he aligns his views with that of the umbrella groups for Christians in general and pentecostals in particular as represented by CAN and PFN.

In his view, the problem of the herdsmen are not the gun-trotting perpetrators of the heinous crimes but their sponsors, who acquire the guns which have been deployed in perpetrating mayhem across the country.

While not making a categorical statement on the matter, the clergy who said that he was not make a media pronouncement but was only address members of his church,  called out the Church to prayers, while promising to hold prayers specifically addressing the issue on February 13.

He raised prayers asking for God’s intervention to end the festering, asking to expose the sponsors and deal with them.

He urged Christians to rise and cry to God to intervene and stop the carnage of innocent citizens.

While taking recourse to a kind of philosophical syllogism, which he called simultaneous equation, he laid out the following thesis:

1) There are problems beyond man;
2)There is no problem beyond God;
3) Man can handle problems from other men;
4) No man can handle problems from God;
5) Security agents can be compromised;
6) God cannot be compromised;
7) Man can sponsor evil;
8) God can’t sponsor evil
He then deduced from the equation that to be a prayer warrior is more effective than activist.

Adeboye said  that the enemies of God and the Children of God themselves have tended to neglect the power of prayers, while as children of God most of problems answer to prayers.

Adeboye reminded the teeming congregants at the massive three-three kilometer auditorium at Shimawa, Ogun State, that the Bible says that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but might to the pulling down of the strongholds of the enemies.

He therefore charged Christians to pray more fervently for end to the crisis, while members of the church to join in special prayers against the rampage of killer herdsmen on  February 13
