By Integrity Youth Alliance

Nigerians, especially those in Abuja has been urged to ignore the mischievous news published on Sahara Reporter titled “Police Move Against #EndSARS Campaign, Plan To Hold #SupportSARS Rally In Abuja”

In a press release on Monday in Abuja by the National Coordinator of Integrity Youth Alliance, Kelvin Adegbenga, he said by now, Nigerians should know that Sahara Reporters is an agent of blackmail.

“We all know that Sahara Reporters and his owner, Omoyele Sowore is still battling to pay the 4billion Naira a Law court awarded the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, so we are not surprised that he is shifting his blackmail to the Nigeria Police this time around.

Adegbenga further reiterated that the rally planned for today is put together by the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) and some Non-Governmental Organizations including the Integrity Youth Alliance to ask Nigerians to support the work of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

“The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) is a section under the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (FCIID), which is the highest investigating arm of the Nigeria Police. Its functions include investigation and prosecution of serious and complex criminal cases within and outside the country, Adegbenga said.

Adegbenga further reiterated that although there are some bad eggs among the SARS personnel but that does not call for the dismantled of the Squad that has reduced robbery to the barest minimum in the country.
