Declare Dcp Abdul Yari Lafia A Deserter Now; Young Professionals Tells Igp Idris
The United Young Professionals has asked the general public to disregard the publication in Tribune of Sunday dated December 3, 2017 with the caption “Policeman Drags IGP To Buhari Over 32Bn, Others”.
In a press release on Sunday in Abuja by the National Coordinator of the United Young Professionals, Adewole Kehinde, he said that DCP Abdul Yari Lafia failed to inform the general public how he connived with a suspect named Fatimah Mohammed to defraud one Mr Huseyin Oztunc, a Turkish National of the sum of N11,700,000:00 (Eleven Million, Seven Hundred Thousand Naira Only).
“It is on record according to the publication on The Nation Newspaper dated Tuesday October 24, 2017 that DCP Abdul Yari Lafia openly connived with Fatimah Mohammed to defraud one Mr Huseyin Oztunc, a Turkish National of the sum of N11,700,000:00 out of the $49,000 stolen by Fatimah Mohammed because DCP Abdul Yari Lafia refused to carry out the instruction from the office of the DPP which says that the DCP Abdul Yari Lafia should handover the N11,700,000:00 recovered from Fatimah Mohammed but rather, the money was handed over to Fatimah Mohammed, the suspect, Adewole said.
He further reiterated that the publication in Tribune Newspaperdated Sunday, December 3, 2017 was to seek sympathy of the public because we can authoritatively say that the Police Service Commission had suspended DCP Abdul Yari Lafia as far back as 14th November, 2017 for disobedience to lawful order, divided loyalty, sabotage, corruption, misappropriation, breach of proper channel of communication, absence from duty, refusal to respond to queries and acts of unbecoming of a public officer.
“It is on record from available information that DCP Abdul Yari Lafia absented himself from duty since 18th July 2017 to 23rd October, 2017, therefore he has gone against the Public Servoce Rules of Nigeria 2008 Sections 030301(m), 030301 (o), 30402 (e), 030402 (t), 030402 (w) which bordered with absent from duty without leave, insubordination, refusal to take or carry out lawful instruction from superior officer, sabotage and any other act becoming of a public officer in accordance to Public Service Rules of Nigeria 2008 as amended.
Adewole further said that the official query issued to DCP Abdul Yari Lafia dated 20th October 2017 by the Commandant, Nigeria Police Academy, Wudii, Kano was ignored by the same DCP Abdul Yari Lafia. In accordance with rule 030302 of the Public Service Rules 2008 as amended, DCP Abdul Yari Lafia never explained in quadruplicate copies within 48 hours, any explanations why his conduct should not be reported to the Inspector General of Police for appropriate sanction hence his suspension by the Police Service Commission on the 14th of November, 2017.
“We are calling on the Nigeria Police to immediately declare DCP Abdul Yari Lafia wanted and face disciplinary action before his case become like that of Senator Misau who deserted the Force to become a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Adewole concluded.
