Imo Deputy Governor Felicitates Iwu, Chukwu On Papal Knighthood

The Deputy Governor of Imo State has congratulated the former Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Maurice Iwu on his recent promotion in the Catholic Christian denomination as he was invested into the order of Papal Knighthood.

The Deputy Governor described Prof. Iwu's Papal Knighthood bestowment as a recognition of his devotion and commitment in the crusade of Christianity.

Prince Madumere further eulogised the professor of Pharmacognosy for his contribution in the national development especially in the academics, politics as one time umpire of the Nigerian apex electoral arbiter and as core researcher who has used his knowledge in discovering the potency of African herbs and leaves, which he said have been turned to gold mine due to their less or no side effect at all.

Their Excellencies, the Deputy Governor of Imo State exchanging pleasantries with former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, when he paid a visit to Chief Tony Chukwu to congratulate him over his bestowment as a Papal Knight.

The number two citizen therefore extolled Prof. Iwu for still clinging on to God despite his knowledge. His word: "Prof. Iwu has remained a visible patriotic pragmatic leader who has proved to all and sundry that he can never be tired in contributing his quota to ensure the success of Nigerian project. This an illustrious son on Imo state who studied abroad and won an international award in research. He became a professor of Pharmacognosy in the prestigious University of Nigeria. At the experimental stage of our democracy, he was appointed the executive of the Nigeria's electoral arbiter, where he did his best to ensure our nascent democracy was not botched. After that national assignment, today his effort in researching into the potency of our herbs and leaves in treating some health condition has flooded both local and international markets with products that are not only bringing solutions to people's health needs but also raking in foreign exchange.

Today we are celebrating him not in knowledge based feat but for his devotion to work of God and humanity. I On behalf of my leader, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, I congratulate him and wish him the best in all his endearvours."

Earlier the Deputy Governor of Imo State also visited Chief Tony Chukwu, a business mogul also received the same Papal Knighthood bestowment for his diligence in God's work.

Prince Madumere simply described Chief Tony Chukwu as a man who is in the heart of Imolites for his giving spirit. "He makes sacrifices to ensure that people's problems are solved. He is a philanthropist of note. In service to God, he has paid his dues. I know he built a magnificent house of worship for God and he has continued to sponsor evangelism in electronic media to up the moral standing of Imolites especially our youths. For me it is one prestigious spiritual recognition that is well deserving of him": he enthused.
