A Great Scientist,educationist And Reformist, Prof. Andrew Jonathan Nok Passes on At 55 Years

A renowned biochemistry, first scientist in the world to discover gene responsible for enzyme that causes trypanosomiasis. Prof. Andrew Jonathan Nok from Nok village - Jaba Local Government of Kaduna State was born February 11th, 1962 and passed away November 20th, 2017. Until his death was Kaduna State Education Commissioner, Kafanchan Government Secondary School Alma-Mater and a recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award in 2010.

On receipt of this information from an alma mater of Government Secondary School Kafanchan; General Augustine Odidi, the reporter contacted Prof. Andrew Noks relative leaving in Minnesota to verify the information. He Spoke to Mr. Yahaya Nok over the phone for 10 minutes. In between the conversation, he was receiving condolence messages from Nigeria and well-wishers across United States. Amid struggle to narrate the incidence, he enumerated that; Prof. Andrew Jonathan Nok was rushed to National Hospital Abuja, where he received treatments for two weeks, discharged on Tuesday and suddenly passed away in his house at Kaduna yesterday due a protracted illness yet unknown.

Earlier this year, his mother passed on too. Mr. Yahaya Nok is grieved, his trip to Nigeria is sudden, to condole families of mother and son.

The State Governor Mall. Nasil Elrufai tweeted, “the state has lost a great educationist and reformist, may his huge but gentle soul rest in peace”.

In another development, the former deputy governor of Kaduna State His Excellency Mr. James Bawa Magagi said the death of an illustrious son took everyone by surprise and prayed, God grants deceased family the fortitude to bear irreparable lost.
