BREAKING: Low Turn Out Mar Anambra Election, As Obiano Expresses Confidence

Information reaching The Nigerian Voice indicates that the “Sit-At-Home” threat issued by leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nmandi Kanu, has been adhered to by its members in Anambra State as traders in Onitsha seemed to be going about their normal businesses instead of going to the Polling Units to cast their votes.

The popular Onitsha market is gradually gathering momentum as business activities resumes while motorcycle riders are also doing their businesses while our correspondent observed that some Anambrarians are busy playing music in their homes.

In Uzogbe Ward 1, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), officials arrived at about 8: 42am and were set to begin accreditation and are however they are having challenges with Card Reader.

Uzogbe, is the Ward of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Candidate Tony Nwoye, our correspondent also observed voters around the Polling Unit, waiting to exercise their rights even as security personnel from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and men of the Nigerian Police Force are around.

Following the challenges faced by the INEC officials with the electronic voting device, electorates are however worried but there is calm at the various polling units as observed by our correspondent while accreditation and voting are going on simultaneously.

At Fege Wards 9 and 10 reports have it that there are no INEC officials but efforts are being made to reach out to INEC officials.

It is also worthy of note that the election has three female governorship with five Deputy Governorship candidates.

Meanwhile, the incumbent governor, Chief Willie Obiano, shortly after casting his vote at Agulere in Ward 4, at Eri Primary School, Agulere, expressed confidence in winning the election, “I am confident that I will win land slide. I am satisfied with what I am seeing apart from small minor issues which are not very important”.
