Army, Two Others Paraded In Delta

The police in Delta State has paraded an Army Officer, Sergeant Okologbo Anthony, 32years with No. 03NA/53/4586 of the Nigeria Army Engineering Regiment, Onitsha, Anambra State and two others Kelly Ogun, 38years of Peoples Club, Mkpor road, Onitsha and Chiko Kiku, 25years of Ugberami community, Ughelli, for allegedly robbing a business woman of her Rav 4 Jeep with Registration Number EKY 297 EJ.

Parading the suspects with hordes of other suspected criminals, the State Police Commissioner, Zanna Ibrahim said his men attach to Dragon Patrol Team 22 stationed along Kwale/Ogwashi-Uku road, intercepted a Rav 4 Jeep with Registration number, driven by someone in army uniform, with two other occupants, between the ages of 25-30 years.

According to Zanna, “On questioning, they claimed to be heading to Onitsha in Anambra State, but could not produce the vehicle particulars. Upon search conducted on the vehicle, the vehicle particulars found indicated that one Florence Uboh, of Ogunu road, Warri, is the owner. Further inquiries revealed that the vehicle was robbed from her two days back at Ughelli”.

CP Zanna lamented the unfortunate incident regarding the kidnap of the British citizens at Enakorogha in Burutu by a gang of armed militants/kidnappers led by one Karowei Mgho.

The Police Boss who disclosed that the police acted on available intelligence, Operatives of the Command effected the arrest of the first four suspects who have various degrees of complicity in the case. One of the suspects, Ekpenunena Courtmember confessed to have led the gang to the scene.

Also the first suspect Ebimene Arerebo 31 years old of Torrindoro Community in Ekremo local government area of Bayelsa State was arrested by a team of military men attached to Sector 1 Operation Delta Safe, Effurun based on information that he aided and abeted the activities of the notorious kidnap syndicate headed by Karo-owei by acting as informant to the syndicate.

According to CP, on 8 November, Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Operatives deployed to Delta State in pursuit of the kidnappers who kidnapped four (4) British citizens in Burutu successfully arrested two of the suspects.

The duo confessed and volunteered to lead the IRT Operatives to arrest their remaining gang members in Sapele, on sighting one of the kidnappers, the IRT Operatives advanced to arrest him but unfortunately, the armed suspect suddenly brought out a berretta pistol and shot at F/No. 359454 Sgt. Sanusi Lanre in the stomach and F/No.360140 Sgt. Agunbiade Adebayo on his two hands.

Other IRT members around immediately replied and gunned down the kidnapper, recovered the pistol and conveyed him and the wounded operatives to the hospital. However, on 8/11/17, at 1100hrs, the injured Sgt. Sanusi Lanre, who had been on intensive care unit of DELSUTH since the shooting, died.

Meanwhile, the three suspects have been arrested for further investigation, while the vehicle was impounded.

Also, on 7/11/2017, SARS operatives, acting on a tip off, arrested the suspect at opposite Customary Court, Ogbe-Owele quarters, Ibusa and recovered one locally made revolver pistol, one locally made single barrel pistol, one drilling machine, one wielding machine and one diesel engine generator from one Ponsak Magani, a 45 year old of Ibusa, even as he noted that investigation was on top gear.
