Dos-led Ipob Disown A Video Of Group Of Individuals Planning To Assassinate Muhammadu Buhari And Others
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) under the Leadership Team of the Directorate of State (DOS) wish to disown and dissociate itself from a video posted on the internet which shows a group of people with Biafran flags making a speech part of which includes the assassination of Retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari and the serving governors of the Igbo-speaking states of Biafra. In the said video, these individuals dressed in all-black attire covered their faces like Boko Haram and similar terrorist groups and had Biafran flags displayed around them in a location that looks like a forest. In a prepared speech read by one of them, they threatened to kill Buhari on the 14th of November 2017 if he dares visit Biafraland. They also promised to kill any governor from the Southeast who is associated with bringing Buhari to Biafraland.
The DOS wishes to categorically state that we are not into armed struggle nor are we into any form of terrorism. We have chosen the peaceful and bloodless path of restoration of Biafra through the instrumentality of United Nations-mandated and supervised Referendum. To achieve this objective, we have joined the Lower Niger Independence Movement (LONIM) which is not a group but a coalition platform for all pro-independence and self-determination groups.
The DOS is partnering with other groups to strengthen LONIM to achieve its objective. We do not believe in violence and will never support any action that will lead to loss of lives and properties. The DOS hereby cautions whichever group that is sponsoring these terrorists to stop and desist from dragging the name of Biafra into the hall of infamy. Although Muhammadu Buhari has severally committed genocides plus other heinous crimes against Biafrans, we will leave him to be tried, indicted, and sentenced by a competent court or tribunal at the appropriate time. We shall never take the laws into our hands or resort to violence.
The DOS-led IPOB, therefore, distance itself from this video which has all the characteristics of terrorism. We call on the entire world to note that we are not part of the group that sponsored this video. We strongly believe in a peaceful and legitimate way to restore Biafra. IPOB is more than convinced that Biafra restoration must come to pass irrespective of what and how Muhammadu Buhari and his fellow Hausa-Fulani Caliphate members feel about it. We reiterate that the restoration of the nation of Biafra is a divine project whose time has come and is, therefore, unstoppable, unquenchable, irreversible, and irrevocable.
