Teen jailed 6 months over alleged burglary

An 18-year old teenager, Adeniyi Olaide, has been sentenced to six months imprisonment by a Magistrate court in Osogbo, Osun State, over alleged burglary.

Prosecutor Fagboyinbo Abiodun told the court that the accused allegedly broke into the house of one Afusat Adegboyega on the 10th of November, in Adetunji Estate in Osogbo with an intent to commit felony.

Abiodun argued that the offence is contrary to and punishable under section 509 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, volume II, laws of Osun State Nigeria 2003.

The accused who had no legal representative, pleaded guilty to the two-count charge levelled against him.

In her judgement, Magistrate Aishat Oloyade, sentenced the accused to six months imprisonment with a fine option of N10, 000.
