Delta State LGA POLLS: APC Chairmanship Candidate Call For Annulment Of Primaries

Following alleged irregularities that trailed the chairmanship primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Aniocha North local government area of Delta State, held on 26th October 2017, one of the contestants who felt cheated, Comrade Gabriel Ebube, has alleged that the local government chairman, Mr Steve Nwadiaju, doctored the delegate list to favour his opponent.

He declared that the electoral results which declared Dr Andrew Odozi as winner with 189 votes as against his 115 “is therefore unacceptable to me, all party faithful and my supporters who believe in the change agenda in Aniocha north and should therefore be annulled for the interest of the party”.

Comrade Ebube who stormed the Secretariat of the Indigenous Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council Monday with a press statement with large number of his supporters wondered why people like him who have the interest of the party at heart could be robbed of their mandates.

He alleged that Nwadiaju and some ill-fated cabals in the council smuggled in fake delegates who were not in the original list as provided by the National Secretariat of the party to vote.

According to Ebube, “I am here with party faithful and APC party delegates who supported me in my noble course, to serve my political party. I strongly believe in the unity, growth and expansion of APC in Delta State especially Aniocha North local government area where I come from”.

He lamented that the strong believe he has for the party was alleged rubbished by Nwadiaju for an alleged morsel of potage to the detriment of the people in the council and the party.

Hear him, “The delegate list that was used to conduct the primaries was doctored by the local government chairman for reason best known to him, in favour of my fellow contestant, Dr Andrew Odozi. When you compare the authentic delegate list from our national secretariat in Abuja, to what was used that day, you will discover that some people who were allowed to vote that day were never true delegates.

“Majority of delegates who supported my course in Ward 3 were disenfranchised from voting thereby denying them their right and opportunity to exercise their franchise”.

He revealed that the councilor who represents them in ward 7 of the local government council was also not allowed to cast his vote, “on the primary election for reasons best known to the cabal”.

He however called on his teeming supporters to remain calm, “as a protest letter of this electoral fraud will be sent to all relevant organs of our party for immediate redress”, he added.

When contacted, Nwadiaju, said unless he sees and read through the press statement, he would not comment on the allegation.
