Nigerian Youths urged to take part in Governance
Nigerian youths have been urged to wake up from their slumber and take their rightful place in the affairs of the Government.
An aspirant in the coming governorship election in Osun State, Dr. Kayode Oduoye said this at a lecture organised by the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management Students' Association (EDEMSA) of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, titled "The Roles of Built Environment Professionals in the Sustainability Development of Osun State".
The Lecture which was delivered by Dr. O. Daramola was organized in honour of Dr. Oduoye for his relentless efforts in the development of Osun State in all sectors and his zeal toward the sustainability of the State and mankind.
Oduoye who was represented at the event by Pastor Sam Segun-progress, appreciated the Management of the Faculty and the entire Students' body for the kind honour bestowed on him.
Segun urged the Students to get involved in the affairs of the state and how they are governed. He charged them to get involved in Nigerian Politics so as to take charge of governance from the "GrandPas".
He cited the case of the emergence of the 31 year -old Austrian who just emerged as the President of his country, just like the case in France and other developed countries.
Segun also posited that for any nation to be called a developed country, the built environment must be sustainable, in which the professionals in the built environment have major role to play in achieving that.
He used the opportunity of the well attended event to highlights some of his strategic plans for the state that is aimed at ensuring even development through sustainable projects across the State if elected as the Governor, come 2018.
In her remark, the Dean of the Faculty Prof. (Mrs.) M.O Babalola appreciated Hon. Oduoye for his commitment toward the development of the State, she said the University Community is aware of the aspiration of one her products and ready to cooperate with him when the time comes to actualize his vision and mission for the sustainability of Osun State.
In appreciation of his exemplary leadership roles and exceptional service in the State, Dr. Kayode Oduoye also called Superkay was honoured with an "Award of Exceptionalism in Leadership and Service in Osun State" alongside other dignitaries at the event.
