Two Car Snatchers Arrested In Delta

Two suspected car snatchers has been nabbed by men of the Delta State Police Command and members of the Vigilante at the popular Ogbe-Ogonogo Market in Asaba, the state capital.

The combined team of police operatives and vigilante apprehended the duo Thursday after trailing their suspect to the market.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Aniamaka Andrew, who gave the names of the suspects as Sunday Aguelobi, 26yrs and Obumeka Ononogbo, 25yrs, “both of Umuomi Ngwo, Uguta II, Imo State trailed one Abies Erhahon, 32yrs of DLA Road, Asaba, from First Bank, Illah road, Asaba, where she had gone to withdraw money, to Ogbe-ogonogo market, broke into her car and stole her handbag containing the sum of Two hundred and forty thousand naira (N240,000.00), when she went inside the market to buy a few things”.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Zanna Ibrahim while stating that the suspects will be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation, calls on Deltans to be more security conscious so as not to be taken unawares by hoodlums especially during the “ember” months.

Meanwhile, Zanna, had gotten delivery of two HP Laptop computers donated by Dr. O.E Okonta, a lecturer with Federal College of Education (Technical) Asaba and Director, Prof. Chike Edozien ICT Centre, Asaba.

Ibrahim, who was enthused by the good gesture from the donors, called on other well-spirited individuals and organizations to emulate the good gesture and provide needed assistance to the Command and other security agencies within the state.

Earlier, while making the donation Dr. O.E Okonta stated that his action is informed by the need to help facilitate police official duties especially in the CP’s and PPRO’s offices and also enhance computer literacy amongst the beneficiaries.
