President Goodluck Jonathan  has been commended for averting a major crisis in the labor sector that would have had grave impact on the civil service and general governance in the country.

The Association of Civil Servants of Nigeria  said the quick intervention and immediate action Jonathan took to have resolved the salary disparity and distortion in the federal public service had averted chaos in the federal bureaucracy.

Speaking during a thank-you visit to the Minister of Labour, Chief Emeka Wogu, in Abuja, president of ASCSN, Mr Olakunle Olaitan, said all the unions in the public service had planned to paralyse all activities in the public service and engage in total war with the Federal Government before the intervention of President Jonathan and the issue was consequently resolved.

The union's commendation came as the government also enjoined labour unions in the country to collaborate with government to ensure the realisation of the ongoing reforms in the electoral system and the power sector.
