Oni task Glo on Rural Telephoning in Ekiti

Governor Segun Oni of Ekiti State has tasked the facilitators of Globacom Telecommunication (Glo) to ensure the network coverage of all the towns and villages in the state in a bid to boost communication among the rural and urban dwellers.

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre said in a statement made available to journalists today that Governor Oni, while playing host to some top functionaries of the telecommunication company led by its Director for Western Region, Mr. Adeniyi Olukoya in his office at Ado Ekiti applauded the telecommunication giant for its contribution to the Nigeria economy.

He noted that there was the need for the company to expand its network base in the state to ensure more residents enjoy its packages.

He explained that the state government has a dream of making telephony accessible to everyone through partnership with the existing telecommunication industries, stressing that the company should take hold of the advantage as an indigenous firm by aggressively pursuing the dominance of the existing markets in the state.

“I want to say that we have enjoyed a very cordial relationship with Glo and we have continued to see the company as a part of the Nigeria dreams of excellence. We see in Glo an opportunity for a Nigeria business to become truly international,” Oni said.

Earlier, Mr. Olukoya had stated the readiness of the company to give  recharge - free mobile packs to all senior civil servants in the state to ensure there is communication among government workers at no cost.

He also said his outfit was interested in partnering with the government in  its efforts at beautifying the state stressing that the company would be interested in roundabouts and roadsides beautification in the entire state .

While thanking the Governor for the continual support of his administration to the company, he said  it would always work harmoniously with the government in  expanding the economy  base of the state .
