ZIGIC JOINS BIRMINGHAM

Birmingham City manager Alex McLeish has completed the signing of Serbian striker Nikola Zigic from Valencia for a reported £6 million.

The 6'8' striker signed a four-year deal with the Blues after completing a medical on Tuesday night. He had spent three years with the Liga club following successful spells with Racing Santander and Serbian side Red Star.

After signing the deal Zigic will return to his international side's World Cup training camp. He has scored 16 goals in 42 international appearances, and was a key player in helping Serbia qualify for the World Cup.

The 29-year-old had been linked at various times with a host of Premier League clubs including Chelsea, Liverpool, Stoke, Blackburn, Sunderland, Aston Villa, Fulham, Everton and Tottenham.
