SAN FRANCISCO, April 30, (THEWILL) – Nnamdi Kanu-led Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has bestowed Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state, with the title of honorary governor of what it termed Biafra Republic.

IPOB announced this in a statement by its media and publicity secretary, Emma Powerful, explaining that the honour was in recognition of Fayose’ solidarity with Kanu and also for his show of courage at the court sitting in Abuja during their leader's recent arraignment.

“We also acknowledge the immense contributions of the honorary Biafran Gov. Ayodele Fayose who did what no south-east or south-south governor had the courage to do,” the group said.

IPOB also commended former Aviation ministers: Osita Chidoka and Femi Fani-Kayode, Chukwuma Soludo, Pat Utomi, deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe and others “for their support in the release of its leaders”.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Command, Musa Kimo, has warned the IPOB against its planned protest in Abuja.

He handed this warning in a statement issued by the command's spokesperson, Usen Omorodion, in Abuja on Sunday.

Kimo said as a professional organisation, the command would not fold its arms and watch criminal elements hide under the guise of such protest to cause breakdown of law and order.

He however advised residents to go about their lawful duties without any fear of molestation.
