Buhari Will Probably Win 2019 Election – Kachikwu

SAN FRANCISCO Alril 30, (THEWILL) – The Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu believes that President Muhammadu Buhari will probably win the 2019 presidential election.

He stated this in response to CNN anchorman, Richard Quest, who had asked if reforms in the petroleum sector would be successful before the termination of the present administration as there would soon be an election.

The minister replied: “Those of us in government are focused on getting work done; the president is probably going to win the election anyway.”

He further stated that the efforts of government as regard diversification of the economy was realistic, assuring that the results would be evident in the next five or seven years.

“It is realistic. Five or seven years. Petroleum led us into this problem; it has to lead us out,” he said in response to another question from the ‘Quest Means Business’ anchor.

When asked the current stage of reforms in the petroleum sector, Kachikwu stated that they are at “about 50 per cent”.
