EDITORS HOLD CONFAB JUNE 2

The 6th All Nigerian Editors Conference (ANEC) will hold from June 2 to 5, 2010 at the Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, Rivers State. According to a press statement issued by the Guild General Secretary, John Ndukauba, the opening session of the conference, an annual programme of the Nigerian Guild of Editors (NGE), would be chaired by the Chairman, Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and one time Information Minister Gen. Ibrahim Haruna.

Highlights of the conference would be the conferment of fellowship of the Guild on deserving editors, and the induction of new members.

The event which is expected to attract editors from the print, electronic and online media across the country and beyond, has as its theme: 'Oil & Gas, Post -Amnesty and the Nigerian Editor'. Topics to be examined under the theme include Accountability in the oil and gas sector, 'Rebuilding a beleaguered region, Avoiding a relapse to militancy, Reporting the Oil and Gas industry,' amongs others.

The annual conference is a platform for participating editors to examine professional as well as national issues in the country. Last year, the All Nigerian Editors Conference was held in Kaduna and had 'Vision 20:2020 and the Nigerian Editor' as the theme.

In previous years, the conference has been held in Osun, Abuja, Bayelsa and Bauchi states. Participating editors are advised to update their records by ensuring prompt payment of their annual dues and registration for the conference at the Guild Secretariate.
