Police arraign septuagenarian for destroying bricks in Osun

Osun State police command has arraigned a 72-year old man, Ismaila Sanusi before an Osogbo Magistrate court for allegedly destroying the foundation bricks of a building.

The septuagenarian was arraigned with another 50-year old man, Taiye Olaoye.

Police prosecutor, Ajayi Sunday told the court that the two accused persons caused damage to the foundation bricks on a parcel of land around Steel rolling area, Osogbo sometimes in January, 2017.

He added that the bricks destroyed are property of one Yunusa Rashidat and valued N1,200,000 (one million, two hundred thousand naira).

He also explained that the offence committed by the duo is contrary to and punishable under Sections 451 and 516 of Criminal Code Cap 34, volume II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria 2003.

The duo however pleaded not guilty of the charge levelled against them. Their counsel, Barrister Bode Bababola also prayed the court to grant the duo bail in the most liberal terms.

He argued that the accused persons have reliable sureties and would not jump bail if granted.

In her ruling, Magistrate Olowolagba Adenike granted the two accused persons the bail of N1,000,000 (one million) with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case til the 15th of May, 2017.
