Black Sunday: Woman, Baby, Escape In Delta Auto Crash, As Father Kills Only Son

It was triple tragedy when a middle age woman in her late 40s broke her right leg in an auto crash between a Tundra and a Jetta Car.

The accident occurred at the popular Temple Clinic Junction along Anwai Road, Asaba, Oshimili South local government area of Delta State.

Trouble started when the Tundra was highlighting from the flyover while the small car was returning from Ugbolu when both collided.

An eyewitness account said the taxi driver, Mr Okonkwo Akonza, 70yrs was at fault as he didn’t wait for the Tundra which was coming from Summit Road using the flyover and was signalling to turn into the way leading to the Department of Security Service (DSS) and the taxi coming from Ugbolu was also turning into the old Anwai road when the Tundra lost control and rammed into the small car.

The eyewitness who simply identified herself as Amaka said, “The small car was coming from Ugbolu but the Tundra was coming from the flyover. The taxi driver is at fault, he didn’t wait for the Tundra to cross before turning into the road”.

She said a woman whose name could be ascertained in the small car out of fear throw her baby from the car through the window and the baby landed with her head on the sand “the baby sustained fracture on the neck, she could not turn her neck”, she narrated.

According to her, “nothing happened to driver”, adding that an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC), Mr Chris I.K who was on patrol rescued the victims and took to Federal Medical Centre (FMC).

It was learnt that he owner of Tundra who returning from Port Harcourt to Abuja, when the accident occurred.

Meanwhile, a man from Opkanam, has crushed his only son to death while trying to reverse his car.

According to the man whom our correspondent ran into at FMC said, “didn’t know my child was behind my car, I was trying to reverse when I discovered that I had killed my only son”, he lamented.
