As promised, President Trump issued a modified Muslim Ban. The first Muslim Ban was contested in court and an injunction was issued against enforcing it. A number of legal challenges have been filed against this ban.

A federal judge in Hawaii has issued a temporary restraining order against the revised Muslim Ban. The order applies nationwide and was issued hours before the revised ban was set to be in effect. Another judge in Maryland blocked the 90-day ban on immigration of citizens from the six Muslim-majority countries in the revised ban.

We salute the federal judges who have stood up for the rule of law even though we live in very difficult political times and the judges themselves were not spared the slights and attacks of the current administration.

"The revised ban is as violative of human rights, the US Constitution and American values as was the first Muslim Ban," said Imad Hamad, AHRC Executive Director. "We expect it to fail in American courts just as the first Muslim ban did," concluded Hamad.
