THE SCARCE HOLE IN THE MISER'S POCKET

By Adeola Ikuomola

Thick darkness threatened social life
Like a volcano spewing out wild lava
To swallow the gallant galaxies live
Like cocks feasting on a fresh larva
Shadowy fears crouched on my elbows
Unspooled my heart back to sunlight
And unbound the colourful rainbows
To refreshen my heart's eternal delight
And I executed my head upon silence
As the moon returned empty-handed
Abreast my old heart-breaking lense
Her star standing mirror crashed-landed
From the face of the truth man is hidden
Like the lamp-lighters in an owl's socket
For vapourised falsehoold man is bidden
Like the scarce hole in the miser's pocket
