... CHARGES CORP MEMBERS ON UNITY, NATIONAL DEVLOPMENT

The Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has called on NYSC members deployed to the State to report to law enforcement authorities in their locality anything that could undermine the peace and security of the nation.

He stated this through his Deputy, Prince Eze Madumere who represented him during the official closing of the orientation course for 2016 batch 'B' stream 11 corp members deployed to the state at the NYSC permanent orientation camp Eziama Obaire, Nkwerre local government of Imo State.

Prince Eze Madumere who was accompanied by the Chief of Staff, Imo State Government House, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Public Safety, Hon. Rodney Ajaelu enjoined corp members to endavour to stay in their duty post always as he admonished them to discharge their duties creditably, shun truancy, lateness to work and unnecessary travellings while in the area of primary assignment.

The Deputy Governor also charged them to distinguish themselves by showing love to fellow distinguished Nigerians at all times in their future endavours.

His words, reading in part; "Wherever you find yourself, try to distinguish yourself by by your patriotism, love for fellow Nigerians; standing up for the truth and supporting things that will promote justice, peace, unity, security and general development of our great Nation."

The deputy governor also used the occasion to praise the NYSC scheme in the state which he said have played good roles in the critical sectors of the State economy particularly in health, educational and agricultural sub sectors. He therefore called on the corp members to play their part in the rescue mission free education policy of the state.

Earlier in his address, the cordinator of NYSC Imo state Mr Olugbodi James called on corps members to remain loyal, dutiful and committed to their service obligations.

Mr Olugbodi enjoined the corps members to identify the people's area of need and endavour to make concerted efforts through the community development service programme to solve observed challenges in their locality.

He said the NYSC values productivity and promised that corps members who distinguise themselves during the service year will be rewarded, while those who run contrary of the schemes rules and regulations will be punished in accordance to NYSC bye laws.
