Imo Deputy Speaker Makes Case For Tax Collection

The Imo State Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Ugonna Ozurigbo has made a case for the stiff adherence to tax payment by citizens of the country.

This was made known to newsmen at the Ehime Mbano LGA Headquarters where the charismatic legislator visited to acquaint himself with the level of development at the local government.

While speaking to the workers at the Local Government premises, he explained that it was time for government to instigate more efficient means of collecting that taxes, adding that for a state like Imo which has the lowest IGR in the country it has become requisite for the state to up the ante on the improvement of IGR in order to sustain the various projects of the present administration.

“You can't imagine that a state like Imo with the numerous projects aimed at enhancing the lives of citizens has a very minute contribution from taxes. It is only the state workers that pay any form of tax,” he enthused.

Ozurigbo reiterated that to sustain projects, like the free education and various road projects, parents and Imolites in general should inculcate the habit of paying taxes to government.

Continuing, the charismatic legislator argued that in this time of economic hardship citizens are expected to help the government help them by doing the right thing which is ensuring that their taxes are paid as at when due to help facilitate the various projects of the Governor.

He urged the staff of the LGA to continue to do their best to support the Owelle Rochas Okorocha led government by making sure they play their own part in their various posts.
