ABUJA, May 18, (THEWILL) - Peoples Democratic Party PDP Board of Trustees (BOT) secretary and former Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Adamu Tuesday resigned following pressure on him over his indictment by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for an alleged N15 billion naira contract scam.

Adamu turned in his resignation letter to the Chairman of the BOT former President Olusegun Obasanjo this afternoon.

Adamu’s resignation is linked to his alleged involvement in the N15 billion naira contract scam during his during his eight years tenure as Governor of Nasarawa State for which he had come under intense criticism from several quarters.

His resignation is coming a week after the embattled former National Chairman, Prince Vincent Ogbulafor was forced to resign following an alleged N109 million fraud.

The former governor was forced to resign following the insistence of party chieftains that all indicted officials of the party must resign and face their criminal charges in court.

It was gathered that some top officials of the party had prevailed on him to emulate Ogbulafor and toe the path of honour and resign.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had indicted the former Governor alongside some of his commissioners for alleged fraudulent award of inflated and bogus contracts to cronies during his tenure as governor.
