The Code of Conduct Bureau, CCB, has bemoaned refusal by high-profile public officers to surrender to assets verification exercise.

It decried that though most of the public officers duly declared their assets as required by law, they however shy away from the second step which involves verification of such declared assets

The Bureau made the disclosure while debunking a media report in which its Chairman, Mr. Sam Saba, who was quoted as ordering some Ministers, Governors, Service Chiefs and top government officials to declare their assets. In a statement by the Head of Press Unit at the CCB, Mr. Mohammed Idris, the Bureau, maintained that no order was issued against the afore mentioned category of public officials.
