SAN FRANCISCO, December 11, (THEWILL) – A Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP Alkali Mohammed, and his orderly were killed and beheaded during an ambush at Omoku.

The officer, who was leading about 12 Mobile Police officers of MOPOL 48 on election security duty was said to have run into heavy gunfire attack.

THEWILL gathered that three of the Police officers escaped but 5 officers are still missing in action as the attackers went away with the police patrol vehicle containing arms.

THEWILL recalls that it is at the same area in Omoku, Onelga LGA that soldiers of 34 brigade were ambushed on 20th November 2016 and one soldier was killed.

Similarly, there are reports that the results of Ikwerre local government area, Rivers east senatorial district, may have been hijacked. Surprisingly, Nyesom Wike, Governor of the state, and Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of transportation, both hail from the area.

Ikwerre and Emouha are the only local governments of the eight in the district where results of Saturday's exercise have not been declared as INEC has announced winners in Port Harcourt, Ogu/Bolo, Okrika, Omuma, Obio Akpor, and Etche local governments while both leading parties have been trading blames for the disruption.

Eyewitnesses told THEWILL that Ballot box snatching, missing result sheets, harassment of electoral officials were among the challenges witnessed in Ikwerre during the poll as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC) blame eachother for the violence.
