Senate screens Acting EFCC chairman, Magu today

By The Citizen

The Senate will screen the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu today (Thursday).

Disclosing this yesterday, Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu who presided over the plenary session said that the chamber would screen Magu today.

It would be recalled that President Buhari had in June this year, forwarded a request for  Magu's confirmation to the Senate, but the matter had not featured on the Senate's agenda since then.

Senate President Bukola Saraki, had in July, 2016 read  the letter from president Muhammadu Buhari appointing Magu as chairman of the EFCC.

Since then, nothing tangible was seen from the side of the Senate on the confirmation.

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu urged Senators to turn up for the legislative exercise  which would be done by the committee of the house.

Magu might however have serious questions to answer as quite a number of the senators who had governed as state governors have one issue or the other with the agency.

Magu became acting chairman of the commission in November, 2015 after the expiration of the tenure of his predecessor, Ibrahim Lamorde.
