Protest Mars N-power Exercise In Ebonyi

SAN FRANCISCO, December 05, (THEWILL) – The N-Power documentation exercise scheduled for Monday in Ebonyi state was marred with protests by youths from the 13 Local Government Area of the state over alleged extortion from organizes of the programme.

THEWILL gathered that the youths, numbering over 200, besieged the venue of the documentation exercise, as early as 7am , and were told to pay the sum of N500 to enable them be documented.

Trouble however started when the organisers directed them to go back to their different local government areas for further directive after they had 'paid' for the documentation.

Angered by the directive to return back to their council areas after waiting several hours in the scorching sun, the youths stormed the entrance gate leading to the Governor's office and blocked the entrance insisting that the Commissioner for Economic Empowerment and Job Creation, Hon Donatus Njoku, or any other government functionary, must address them before they would vacate the entrance.

After several hours of waiting at the entrance gate of the Governor's office without any government functionary addressing them, they returned to the documentation venue demanding a refund of the money paid for the exercise protesting the alleged extortion and calling for the immediate arrest of the organisers.

However, all the organisers had disappeared while the youths couldn't get a refund of the money paid for the exercise.
