The Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Calistus Onaga, has disclosed that the leadership style of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State in the areas of infrastructural development was worthy of commendation and emulation by other leaders in the country.

Bishop Onaga who spoke in a sermon to mark the 2016 Carol of Nine Lessons held at the Holy Ghost Cathedral Parish Church, Enugu, on Sunday, eulogised Governor Ugwuanyi for his remarkable achievements on roads, security and other infrastructural facilities, noting that the gesture has vastly improved the people's wellbeing.

The Catholic cleric described Governor Ugwuanyi’s ability to pay workers' salaries as and when due, in addition to the provision of other social amenities despite dwindling federal allocation to states as miraculous.

“As a leader, even when things are very difficult, you’re supposed to give people hope by touching areas that touch their lives. So we are grateful to you, we are not taking any of these things for granted. Keep it up and don't relent,' he added.

He further explained that leadership is about ability to touch the lives of the despondent in the society by providing them with conducive environment and securing their lives and property.

Lamenting the current hardship in the country occasioned by economic recession, the cleric enjoined the people to show care and support to make the Christmas celebration a happy one for all families.

The first lesson at the event was read by Governor Ugwuanyi. Other Bible readings were taken by dignitaries such as the deputy Senate President, Chief Ike Ekweremadu; former governor of old Anambra State, Senator JimĀ  Nwobodo; Speaker of the Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Ubosi, and the Acting Chief Judge of Enugu State, Justice Pricilla Ngozi Emehelu.

The event was attended by many personalities including the Bishop Emeritus of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Anthony Gbuji, Senator Chukwuka Utazi, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu and Rev. Emma Igwensi among others.
