High-Level Briefing on Disaster Risk Reduction and South Sudan’s National Disaster Risk Management Policy

H.E. Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan James Wani Igga, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, and representatives from the Japanese Embassy, will launch the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030) and brief senior Government officials, Parliamentarians political leaders, bureaucrats and development partners to urge their support on the implementation of Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030).

The Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030) aims for a substantial reduction of disaster risk and losses in lives, livelihoods and health and in the economic, physical, social, cultural and environmental assets of persons, businesses, communities and countries. This dialogue will serve as an opportunity for public service officials, policy makers and political leaders to discuss disaster risk reduction and its linkages with sustainable development and community resilience building in South Sudan.
