Katsina born federal lawmaker representing Dutsin-ma/Kurfi Federal Constituency of Katsina State on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Danlami Mohammed Kurfi has disclosed that president Muhammadu Buhari will win the 2019 election should he decide to run for another term in office.

Hon. Kurfi who is the deputy chairman of House committee on petroleum resources downstream further noted that Nigerians will be grateful for Buhari’s economic and social strategies in the years to come even as he admonished Nigerians to exercise patience.

The parliamentarian made this remarks with aviation correspondents at the Port Harcourt airport VIP lounge on his return from an oversight function in Warri and Port Harcourt refineries on Thursday. The lawmaker said:

“The Buhari’s government which the members of opposition are criticizing today unknown to them is a man of purpose and vision, take it from me, give him more time, you will be singing his praise. Although it is too early to talk about 2019, but it is crystal clear that President Buhari will win should he seek reelection in 2019 for second term.

''This is the truth, in order to get something good, you have to do a radical surgery, that radical surgery the pain is what we are suffering from; I am telling you when the pains heal and we start enjoying the surgery that was put in place, we will be ready to vote again if it is the same Buhari because they will say if things go wrong, he knows how to fix it.”

Asked why oversight is necessary as part of statutory legislative functions, Hon Kurfi said the constitution is very clear about it under the principles of separation of powers, explaining that it also helps to foster transparency, accountability and fiscal discipline.

In his words he said; One of the hall marks of democracy is the constitutional entrenchment of three equal and coordinate arms of government, the legislature Section 4(1), the Executive Section 5(1) and the judiciary Section 6(1) of the 1999 Constitution as amended. A combination of these arms of government creates a trinity of one or a tripod upon which the overall government function.

Explaining further, ''This triangle is technically or legally referred to as the doctrine of separation of powers. On our part as parliamentarians we must ensure that there is transparency, accountability and fiscal discipline in ministries, agencies and departments in the interest of Nigerian masses and I assure that will never be compromised.''
