Ignore The Rants Of This Man....If You Want To Live Long!

The man whose picture appears above though his claims are that he is a doctor needs to be ignored... That is if you desire to live long...especially if you are a pregnant woman!

On an early morning Ogun State Television, OGTV talk show, I heard him make the following dangerous declarations:

1. That so many quack nurses abound and that it is safe for them to conduct deliveries of our pregnant women so long as they are certified "safe" by the state government.

That such certification is preceded by "training organised by the government" in which among other things, surgical items like artery forceps and scissors are freely distributed to them.

That delivery of the newborn in humans is a pretty straightforward process in "8 out of 10 cases anyway"!

That it is so seamless that some women have been credited with self-delivery anyway!

That even mere animals deliver themselves of their newborn without any hue and cry anyway!

That it is the "occasional 2 cases out of 10" that may likely be problematic that really need the attention of doctors.

That the state government has instituted programs and processes to "train such auxiliaries and traditionalists to recognise complications and impending complications so they may refer patients on time"!

He went further to state that their search light was beamed on doctors...."med school plus housemanship as evidence by full registration with the MDCN not enough but possession of current valid practising license...evidenced by CME participation...and payment of practising fee.

Good enough!
Afterall Babatunde Ipaye did not make these rules of professional prerequisites for medical practise. He is only a devoted parrot duly echoing the voice of the profession!

But why such tenacious adherence to apparently unending conditions for medical doctors while providing a soft landing for quacks?

And yet, Nigeria has just about the highest Maternal Mortality Rate in the world!

So, I admonish you to ignore the rants of Ipaye...who has allowed the exigencies of politics to becloud his reasoning...!

For child delivery is within the purview of obstetrics...considered the most delicate medical specialty...!

For two lives...or more are involved....the mother and the baby!

Obstetrics is so delicate that bleeding is often severe and sudden and unheralded... especially in unskilled hands!

Common sense dictates that such scary scenarios... as found in obstetric practise are better prevented....by disallowing all persons of unqualified status to lay hands on pregnant women...

In this day and age....
Besides, doctors idling away, nearly
outnumber patients these days.
So, why all this nonsense!
