UDUAGHAN, OLU OF WARRI, FOR ALPHA MAY CLUB'S SILVER JUBILEE

The Governor of Delta State, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse II, CON, the Olu of Warri, erudite lawyer, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) and Chief (Mrs.) Rita Lori-Ogbebor, are among eminent personalities expected at the 25th anniversary of the Alpha-May Club, holding tomorrow at the Golden Gate Restaurant, Ikoyi, Lagos.

A statement issued by Comrade Alex Eyengho, the organising secretary of the Itsekiri professionals in Lagos said the special anniversary lecture entitled: Path To Itsekiri Self Determination And Political Autonomy, will be delivered by Prof. Sagay.

The statement further revealed that the club will give out posthumous awards to Nigeria's first Finance Minister, the late Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh and slain nationalist, Chief Alfred Rewane, for their contributions to the advancement of Itsekiri nation, and Nigeria generally.

In the same vein, while the first female University Vice Chancellor in Nigeria and Africa, Prof. Grace Alele-Williams, will be awarded for her achievements and contributions to the education sector in Africa and globally, prominent Itsekiri opinion leaders, Pa Johnson O. S. Ayomike of the Itsekiri Leaders of Thought, and the Igba of Warri, Chief (Mrs.) Rita Lori-Ogbebor, will be given a life-time achievement awards for their contributions to the advancement of Itsekiri nation.

Similarly, the 2009 beneficiaries of the club's annual educational scholarship award scheme will receive their cheques at the occasion. The major side attractions on the occasion will include the screening of the 2010 African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) nominated short film in Itsekiri language entitled: Suara La, and a special cultural display by Itsekiri troupe.
