BEVERY HILL, December 01, (THEWILL) – A group, which identified itself as the Niger-Delta Deliberators, NDD, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to immediately engage the services of the immediate past governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, if he is serious about ending the militancy in the Niger Delta.

Populated by professionals and community leaders from the Niger-Delta region, the group maintained that the former governor understands the psyche and mindset of youths in the region and has a good grasp of the terrain.

In a statement jointly signed by its coordinator, Ken Okorodas, from Bayelsa State, and Publicity Secretary, Donald Igudia from Delta, NDD pleaded with Buhari to seek the assistance of Uduaghan if the spate of bombings of oil and gas facilities must be arrested.

Members of the group argued that the ex-governor's persistent engagements of militants and his ability to engender peace on several occasions as Secretary to State Government and governor yielded immense results in the past.

They added that at the risk of patronising the federal government, Uduaghan should be appointed as leader of the Federal Government committee that would spearhead the dialogue process on the Niger Delta crisis.

The group however urged the former governor not to be reluctant in rendering service to the region and the country through his wealth of experience.

NDD further advised the people of Delta South Senatorial District to project and support Uduaghan for Senate come 2019, adding that Buhari's corruption war should be supported by Nigerians especially people of the Niger Delta region whose developmental setback was caused by corruption.
