We're working with development partners to reduce poverty, says Gov. Ugwuanyi

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has emphasised his administration’s resolve to continue to partner stakeholders and organizations to improve the wellbeing of citizens of the state.

The governor, represented at the event by his deputy, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo, stated this at Nike Lake Resort Hotel Enugu recently during a workshop tagged, “Training for Government MDAs on Revenue Mobilization, Responsive Fiscal governance and Participatory Budget Process for Effective Service Delivery at Sub-National Level”.

He promised to strengthen partnership with development partners to ensure sustainable development, adding that Enugu State is open to business ideas and reforms.

The Associate Country Director of Oxfam, Mrs. Evelyn Mere, explained

that the objectives of the workshop is to train participants comprising representatives from the state and local government areas.

Mrs. Mere said that the importance of expanding the productive capacity of the economy cannot be overemphasized, pointing out that

government at all levels should plan carefully to create revenue and prioritize spending in key sectors that would spur growth and reduce poverty.

The secretary to the state government, Mr. Gabriel Ajah, thanked the United Kingdom-based charity group for the partnership with Enugu State and their enduring work in poverty-reduction across the world.

Some of the dignitaries at the event include the Enugu State Commissioner for justice, Chief Miletus Eze and commissioner for Water Resources, Mr. Charles Egumgbe, among other dignitaries.
