Tropicana Conference Centre in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital was filled to capacity last Tuesday as some of the best brains in the field of Engineering were honoured by the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

A Chieftain of Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Executive Director of Projects of the Niger Delta Development Commission (EDP NDDC), ENGR ADJOGBE SAMUEL was one of those honoured with the prestigious Fellow of the Institute.

As a Fellow, ENGR ADJOGBE will henceforth add FNSE after his name signifying his enviable status as one of the major stakeholders and accomplished personality in his career as a world class professional.

Adjogbe holds a Bachelor and Master Degree of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering and will soon be rounding up his Doctorate Degree in the same discipline. His excellent career in Chevron Nigeria Limited exposed him to several international training programmes, Seminars and conferences and rose from a humble graduate employee to the enviable position of a strategic management staff of the multinational oil producing and marketing company before his recent appointment as the EDP NDDC.

Speaking to newsmen after receiving the prestigious award, ADJOGBE said "I am extremely humbled by this award, coming barely a month after resumption of duty as EDP NDDC.

"Engineering is my primary constituency and I have practised the profession with full dedication, commitment and obeying strict professional ethics and rules, not compromising my supervisory roles as a negotiator, team leader, project designer and Site Engineer.

"I am overwhelmed by this great honour and professional recognition coming from the regulatory body of our noble profession, the NSE. I thank God Almighty, the President of NSE - Engr Otis Anyaeji FNSE and those who worked so hard to make today's event a remarkable one.

"I want to reassure the good people of the Niger Delta that I will not let them down. I am committed to the laudable intentions and visions of president Muhammadu Buhari for the development and economic empowerment of the Niger Delta, as can be seen from his body language, strategic meetings with leaders of the region and more importantly through various blueprints for which NDDC will continue to play an integral role in the positive transformation of the Niger Delta region.

"The Chairman of NDDC board, Senator Ndoma Egba, our amiable Managing Director, Nsima Ekere and the board members are working round the clock to reposition the commission's operations such that our service delivery will have maximum impact directly on the people of the Niger Delta in terms of infrastructural and socioeconomic development, education and vocational training and funding, among others.

"I will continue to do my best within acceptable professional ethics and standards so as to further justify this honour bestowed on me today by the NSE. To God be the Glory."

It is altruism that Engr ADJOGBE deserved this wonderful award viewed against the background of his robust roles as a key player in the engineering profession spanning across several years of active professional engagements, laced with both local and international training while in Chevron Nigeria Limited and now as EDP NDDC.

Congratulations to Engr ADJOGBE, a worthy professional, an illustrious son of the Niger Delta, a highly detribalised and patriotic Nigerian.
