A non-profit organization, the Olaoluwa Adeyeye Foundation (OAF) has called on the people of Ondo State to embrace peace and tranquility before, during and after the November 26 governorship election in the state.

In a statement made available to news men on Thursday in Akure by OAF’s Founder and Executive Director, Barrister Olaoluwa Adeyeye, the foundation reminded the people of the state to be mindful of the fact that it is only in an atmosphere of peace and serenity that meaningful and visible development can gain a firm footing in the state.

Reflecting on the 1983 political crisis in the state that killed over 1000 people and properties worth billions of naira destroyed, Adeyeye, a former APC Governorship Aspirant urged the people of the state to play politics of development at the polls and vote for a bright and fruitful future in Ondo State.

“We appeal to the people of Ondo State to tow the path of peace even in the face of provocation. It is only the living that can enjoy the fruits of a good government. We are also calling on the security agencies to be impartial and fair to all in the discharge of their duties. We say no to violence, hooliganism and gangsterism”.

“We pray against a recurrence of the infamous incidents of 1983 which I personally witnessed and I join my people to look forward to the birth of a new dawn in Ondo State. We plead with all political gladiators to play by the rules on the day and no more”.

“We specifically appeal to young people to discountenance the allure of violence and its temporary reward but rather focus on creating the future of their vision by voting for the candidate they deem best suited to the fulfilment of their dreams for Ondo State” The foundation said.
