Ondo Is Peaceful And Ready For Election, Group Assures

By Ondo Rebirth Network

A Socio-political pressure group, routing for the candidate of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the Ondo Governorship election, Ondo Rebirth Network (ORN) has condemned the call by some persons, which it described as the agents of the Ondo State Government, for the postponement of the Saturday Governorship election in the State.

The group described the call as an attempt by the Mimiko government and its agents, to truncate the will of the people of Ondo State, on the altar of the sectional ambition of a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in the State.

In a statement issued and signed in Akure by the General Secretary and Publicity Secretary of the group, Ayodeji Ologun and Comrade Femi Lawson respectively, the group says the State is peaceful and the people across the local governments are fully prepared for the Governorship election in the state, and wondered why the Mimiko faction of the PDP, will continue to misrepresent the true position of the political atmosphere in the State.

The group also expressed its confidence in the Security agencies at ensuring maximum and effective security as well as a peaceful atmosphere for eligible voters to cast their votes before, during and after the elections.

The group therefore enjoined the general public to disregard the call for the postponement of the election, describing it as a mere attempt, by the Mimiko faction of the PDP, to buy time to pursue its legal battle against the candidature of Mr. Jimoh Ibrahim of the PDP, in the election.

“Finally, we wish to restate our commitment towards mobilizing the support of the people of Ondo State for a peaceful, free and fair election in the State” the statement concluded.
