Ondo Guber: Akeredolu donates 500 eye glasses to less privileged as 1,500 PDP members joins APC at Okeigbo

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for November 26th governorship election in Ondo State, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN on Thursday donated 500 eye glasses to less privileged people in Ondo, the country home of Governor Segun Mimiko.

The eye glasses which was a campaign gift to Akeredolu by a Medical Practitioner, Tola Esan, was distributed by Akeredolu to the beneficiaries amidst joy and elation by the people of the ancient city.

Akeredolu who promised to sustain the initiative also vowed not to discriminate against the people of the community if he win the fast approaching election.

One of the beneficiaries of the eye glasses, Mr. Femi Omoniyi said the gift from Akeredoly would forever be cherished and appreciated by him.

The father of three who could not hide his joy told news men after the event that he ought to have paid for the glasses since 2014 but he could not afford the bill in the hospital he visited.

Meanwhile, no fewer than one thousand five hundred (1,500) members of the people's Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the APC on Thursday at Okeigbo in Ileooluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area of the state.

The defectors who are predominantly supporters of the Director General of the Nigerian's Technical Aid Corps, Dr. Pius Osunyikanmi said they decided to join APC to support Akeredolu in order to bring development to the town.

Osunyikanmii, a close ally of Governor Mimiko recently defected from PDP to APC. He hails from Okeigbo.

Akeredolu who welcomed the defectors to the APC when his campaign train visited the the community promised to create Okeigbo Local Council Development Area if elected.
