The estranged wife of the son of former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, Ms Rahama Indimi, has petitioned President Mohammadu Buhari over an attempted forceful abduction of two of her children from their school in Abuja, Daily Trust reports. This was after Rahama claimed that Mohammd sent thugs to abduct their children from school.

The petition dated November 9 and signed by the former Attorney General, Nasarawa State, Innocent Lagi was sent to President Buhari, the National Assembly,  Inspector General of Police (IGP), Director DSS, the Sultan of Sokoto, Supreme Council of Sharia in Nigeria, National Human Rights Commission and the President, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

The petitioner alleged numerous acts of arbitrary abuse of power and privileges by Mohammed Badamasi Babangida using the Nigerian police and threatening judges handling the issue of the custody of their children.

According to the petitioner: “on the 9th of November 2016 at about 3'o clock pm our client believe that Mohammed Badamasi Babangida attempted as he had done previously to forcefully abduct our client's children using the offers of the Nigerian Police force from their school at Katampe Abuja.

“The policemen involved are Sunday Ubua who provided his phone No. as 08033129778 and Musa Maji with Police identification No. 158593. When our correspondent visited the School yesterday, an eye witness who does not want his name in print confirmed the incident”, the petitioner said. And when he eventually let her go he would not let her go with her infant children; Maryam Mohammed Babangida ten (10) years old, Fatima Mohammed Babangida nine (9) years old, Ibrahim Mohammed Babangida seven (7) years old and Mohammed Mohammed Babangida five (5) years old”. “Our client had reached out severally through relatives and emails to Babangida to reconsider his actions and let her have the children back to no avail.

Babangida eventually returned the four kids to our client in June 2016.

“After this incident our client filed a suit which is still pending at an Abuja Area Court for the custody of the four children as provided under Islamic law. Mr Babangida also filed a suit at an Upper Sharia Court in Minna seeking the custody of the kids.

“Because of the actions and threat of Mr Babangida; our client's family had to seek the protection of the Police and has been provided a round the clock police protection”, the petitioner alleged.

Mohammed in September 2016, had taken his ex-wife to a Sharia Court in Minna for custody of his children. In July 2016, an audio tape was leaked of Mohammed saying some nasty things about his new wife. It was reported that Rahama was the person who leaked it. She however denied this accusation.
