SAN FRANCISCO, November 10, (THEWILL) – The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Ondo state, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has lampooned the state Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko over the “reckless abandonment” of some towns and villages in Ondo West Local Government Area, where the Governor hails from.

Akeredolu, who alleged that the little development in the council area could only been found in the Ondo Ekinmogun metropolis, stated that it is counterproductive to center development only on the urban areas to the detriment of rural areas.

Speaking on Tuesday when his campaign team visited the Ondo West Constituency 2 in Ondo West Local Government Area, the former president of the Nigeria Bar Association said Mimiko has erased the constituency from the map of Ondo West.

At the palace of Oloja of Litaye, Oba Kokumo Akintan, Akeredolu said he found it difficult to believe that Mimiko hail from the council area, stressing that “Nothing exists here, no infrastructure, nothing. This is wickedness on the part of Mr Governor.

“Please it is time to deliver yourselves from the bondage of poverty and epileptic governance that Mimiko has dragged you into. Please use your votes to secure your freedom.

“Vote for me to champion the change you deserve in this council area. I promise to govern with the fear of God. I will transform your life. I will link you with civilization. I will not enslave you,” Akeredolu said.

The monarch of Litaye, Oba Kokumo Akintan, who thanked Akeredolu over the visit to his palace, lamented over the lack of infrastructure in the entire Ondo West constituency 2, pleading that Akeredolu should not forget his people if he wins the November 26th election.

The traditional ruler said despite having a sitting governor from his local government, his community has no motorable road, drinks water from the stream and has no access no power supply.

The monarch also said the community has not been linked with national grid to enjoy power supply and also, despite being the agriculture hub of the council, the town has no befitting market.

“This community has no access to pipe water. Up till this moment, we drink water from the stream. The borehole that Agagu government sank for us collapsed four years ago, we asked for help to get it fixed, no one has responded.

“We have no maternity health centre, all our roads have collapsed, we have been abandoned, we are suffering, we beg you not to forget us,” he said.

The monarch also alleged that the community is responsible for the salary of teachers in the primary and secondary schools in the community, stressing that such ugly development has placed avoidable burden on the community.

Other towns visited by Akeredolu in the council area are Laje, Igbindo, Okeruku, Ewuro, Oba, Ajagba, Akunara, Motadole, Igbado and Leyewo communities.
