Brussels Conference for the Central African Republic

High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy / Vice-President of the Commission Federica Mogherini and the President of the Central African Republic, Professor Faustin Archange Touadéra, will jointly chair the conference, which will be attended by ministers and high-level representatives from international organizations.

Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica and Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides will also participate.

The conference aims at mobilising the international community in order to generate political support and concrete commitments to support the Central African Republic's authorities' ambitious agenda to achieve peace, security and reconciliation across the country, as well as to promote development and economic recovery.

Where: the Council of the European Union - Justus Lipsius building (175 rue de la Loi, Brussels).

1. Media accreditation

Journalists holding a European Council 6-month badge do not need to register.

2. Photo/TV opportunities

Arrivals/Departures and press conference are accessible to all accredited media.

Due to limited space, media wishing to participate in photo/TV opportunities should send a request to [email protected]. Group cards will be attributed on a first come, first served basis and to ensure an appropriate geographical coverage.

3. Press centre

A press centre will be installed in the Justus Lipsius building (JL).

The Opening hours will be:

  • 17 November : from 7.00. The closing time will be announced depending on the proceedings of the meeting (minimum three hours after the end of the press conference). Access to VIP entrance and to press room on 17 November will be possible only with a special "Brussels Conference for the Central African Republic " badge or a European Council 6-month badge.

The press centre facilities will include:

  • Press areas for images and doorsteps at the VIP entrance (VIP entrance 02);
  • Workstations equipped with Wifi internet connection (network "Consilium" - no password required) and power supply;
  • A limited number of telephone and ISDN connections;
  • Closed‑circuit television carrying host broadcaster pictures and press information will be in operation throughout the press centre;
  • A main press conference room (level 00) for the final press conference;
  • Meals, refreshments and light cold meals can be bought at self-service restaurant on level 01 or the press bar on level 00.

Delivery and removal of technical equipment

Delivery and installation of technical equipment

Delivery and installation of technical equipment must be carried out via the main entrance (175, rue de la Loi) on Wednesday 16, between 8.00 and 18.00, for equipment not exceeding the dimension of the x-ray machines (tunnel 77,5 x 58,3 cm, max. weight of baggage 165 kg).

In case your technical equipment exceeds the above-mentioned dimensions, please send an email to [email protected], before Friday 11 November at 12.00.

Removal of technical equipment

The equipment must be removed, depending on the end of the meeting:

on Thursday 17 November, after the end of the Conference; or

on Friday 18 November between 08.00 and 18.00.

4. Audiovisual facilities

Facilities for TV & radio stations

The press centre will include:

  • TV editing rooms with telephones and ISDN connections, equipped for reception of the host broadcaster's TV signal.
  • Each radio booth is equipped with a telephone (analogue connection), an ISDN connection and Wifi internet access.

Satellite vehicle parking/booking of stand-up positions

Satellite TV and radio broadcasting vehicles can be parked on Rondpoint Schuman in face of the Council building. Fibre connections with the matrix room in the Justus Lipsius building will be available.

A limited number of live stand-up positions will be located in the Atrium (mezzanine). Advanced booking is essential.

5. Host broadcaster

The Council audiovisual service will be the host broadcaster of the conference.

All host broadcaster footage can be downloaded in broadcast quality (MPEG-4 - 16/9 format) on http://tvnewsroom.consilium.europa.eu (arrivals, opening and closing remarks and press conferences).

A selection of photographs taken by Council photographers will be published on http://tvnewsroom.consilium.europa.eu/photos. The high-resolution photographs can be downloaded and used free of charge for non-commercial use (provided the copyright "European Union" is mentioned).
