Troops Rescue Another Missing Chibok Schoolgirl

SAN FRANCISCO, November 05, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Army has announced the rescue of one of the remaining abducted Chibok schoolgirls, at Pulka village in Gwoza local government of Borno State.

Troops were said to have rescued the girl on Saturday morning during an operation against Boko Haram insurgents.The girl, who was found with a 10-month-old baby, identified herself as Maryam Ali Maiyanga, telling the soldiers that her son, whom she bore to a Boko Haram member, is named Ali.

The Director of Army Public Relations, Col. Sani Usman, made this known in a statement, adding that the girl had been taken to a military facility for medical attention.

“Troops of 121 Battalion, Nigerian Army, deployed at Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area, Borno State, for Operation LAFIYA DOLE today, Saturday 5th November 2016, at about 6.00am, while screening some escapees from Boko Haram terrorists hideout in Sambisa forest, discovered one of the abducted Government Secondary School Chibok girls, named Maryam Ali Maiyanga among them,” he said.

The Army spokesman continued that “she was discovered to be carrying a 10-month-old son, named Ali. She has been taken to the unit's medical facility for proper medical check up.

“It is imperative to state that troops have been working round the clock to clear remnants of Boko Haram terrorists wherever they might be hibernating and also rescue all persons held hostages by terrorists,” Usman stressed.
